Part 02 – On the Road in Germany – The Road Trip from UK to Türkiye
So we’re on the E45 in Germany towards Nürnberg. From there we will drive to München and sleep over for the night.
So far so good… I was a bit surprised to experience the ‘loo system’ in Europe – you have to pay to use the toilet and there is usually someone waiting outside for payment on a plate!
We accidentally drove up to the Netherlands earlier on but I think that was the Tom Tom’s fault (and partly ours for listening to it without looking at the map
)
Part 01 – Planning and Preparations – The Road Trip from UK to Türkiye
Given only a few short weeks notice of a road trip with my uncle, I thought it would be good to get a holiday blog-category rolling.
I am hoping to keep it updated from the planning-preparations stage to when we are actually on the road (if I am not too busy watching movies on my netbook map coordinating
)
So this will be a road trip from London to Istanbul, Turkey.
We will be travelling in a BMW X3… I like to call it ‘The Beast’
Getting GTranslate to Work with WordPress and HTTPS
I installed GTranslate on my blog (the one you’re reading!) not long ago and noticed a strange problem I was having with settings not being saved and the plug-in not showing up as a widget on the home page when it was activated.
If you have the same problem, you will notice the “Configure it from WP-Admin -> Settings -> GTranslate to see it in action” showing up in your widget bar.
This was on GTranslate version 1.0.23 and WordPress version 3.1.3 (both the latest as of this post… although I don’t think the WordPress installation is the problem here… read on!)
I also tried it on a fresh installation of WordPress 3.1.3 to rule out any other configuration/plug-in changes.
How to Boost your Wireless Strength with DD-WRT
If you have a DD-WRT powered router then you already know how powerful and feature-full it is, compared to a standard out-of-the-box ISP provided router.
This article will be about making use of the features that DD-WRT provides out of the box, as well as some other ‘hacks’ we can use to boost the wireless signal in your home or office.
The ones I will talk about today are as follows (in order of usefulness and ease):
- Wireless channel selection
- Update firmware and/or drivers!
- Transmit (Tx) Power
- Beacon Interval
